Whirlpool Oven Error Codes: What They Mean and How to Fix Them
Whirlpool ranges and wall ovens show codes in the display, either as a short code like F2 or in an F-E format like F3E0. Older and newer models use different formats, and the meaning can vary by model. Whirlpool's own steps are the same for most codes: turn off the breaker for one minute, turn it back on, watch the display for a minute to see whether the code returns, then test the oven. If you ever smell gas, do not touch any switches or the oven controls. Leave the home right away and call your gas utility from outside.

How to clear the code
- Turn off the breaker, or breakers, that feed the range or wall oven for one minute.
- Turn the breaker back on.
- Watch the display for one minute to see if the code returns.
- Test the oven. If the code is back, book service.
Self-clean, door locks and gas safety
F5 and F9 codes often show up during or right after a self-clean cycle, when the latch motor locks and unlocks the door. If the door is locked after a clean, let the oven cool completely before doing anything else, then try the breaker reset. Prying the door open can bend the latch or damage the hinge, which turns a simple repair into a bigger one.
If you use self-clean often, wipe up heavy spills first. Less soil means a shorter, cooler clean and less strain on the latch and the oven sensor.
On a Whirlpool gas range, a control fault can stop the bake burner from lighting. Do not try to light it manually or remove covers near the gas valve. If you smell gas, leave the home immediately and call your gas utility from outside. Leave gas valve and igniter work to a qualified technician.

What does F3E0 mean on a Whirlpool oven?
Whirlpool says F3E0 points to the oven temperature sensor, the control or the wiring between them. Try a one-minute breaker reset. If it returns, the sensor circuit needs testing.
My Whirlpool oven shows F5E0 and the door is locked. What now?
F5E0 points to the door latch, door switch or wiring. Do a breaker reset and do not force the door. If the code returns or the door stays locked, book service.
How do I turn off LOC on a Whirlpool range?
Make sure the oven and timer are off, then hold Start/Enter for about 5 seconds until you hear a tone. LOC should disappear.
