Whirlpool appliances are in more Atlanta homes than almost any other brand, and Whirlpool engineering also sits inside Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, Jenn-Air and many Kenmore models. We work on these designs nearly every day, which means we know their weak points and carry the parts that fail most.
Mr. Fixer repairs Whirlpool washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, ranges and wall ovens. Same-day service is available in most areas, and you see a written estimate before anything is replaced.
About Whirlpool appliances
Whirlpool Corporation is based in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and traces its history to 1911. It is one of the largest appliance makers in the world, and its US brands include Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air and Amana. Laundry lines over the years have included Duet front-loaders and Cabrio top-loaders, and refrigerators run from basic top-freezers to French-door models. For repairs, Whirlpool's scale is a real advantage: parts are made in huge numbers, stocked by every supplier and often shared across brands, so many repairs are affordable and quick to complete.

Common Whirlpool problems we fix
Washer showing a suds code
Many Whirlpool HE washers display Sud or Sd when they detect too many suds. Too much detergent, or regular detergent in an HE machine, is the usual cause, but a slow drain can produce the same code.
Top-loader will not spin or lid will not unlock
A failing lid lock, a worn drive component or a clogged pump stops the spin on many Whirlpool top-loaders. We check for water left in the tub and test the lid lock before ordering a part.
Dryer squealing or thumping
Whirlpool dryers commonly wear out drum support rollers, the idler pulley and the belt. The noise usually gets worse over weeks, and replacing worn parts early prevents a snapped belt.
Dryer running cold
A blown thermal fuse, failed element or high-limit thermostat causes most no-heat calls on electric models, while gas models need igniters or valve coils. We check vent airflow on every one.
Refrigerator ice maker or cooling problems
Frozen fill tubes, failing water valves and defrost faults are frequent. We test the defrost heater, sensor and control before any discussion of the compressor.
Dishwasher not draining or cleaning
Many newer Whirlpool dishwashers use removable filters that clog if they are not rinsed, leading to standing water and gritty dishes. Drain pumps and wash motors are the next things we test.
Whirlpool tips from our technicians
- Measure HE detergent carefully, and use less than the cap suggests if you have soft water. Excess suds are the most common reason for a suds code.
- Pull out and rinse the dishwasher filter monthly. Most Whirlpool models made in recent years twist out from the floor of the tub.
- Clean the lint screen every load and have the dryer vent checked yearly, especially if your laundry room is on an interior wall with a long vent run.
Whirlpool repair FAQs
Why are Whirlpool repairs usually affordable?
Whirlpool engineering is shared across many brands, so parts are produced in volume and stocked widely. That keeps prices reasonable and helps us finish many repairs on the first visit.
My Whirlpool washer will not drain. What should I check?
Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or pushed too far into the standpipe, and that the load is not overstuffed. If it still will not drain, the pump or a blockage needs attention. Our washer not draining guide has more.
Do you install Whirlpool appliances too?
Yes. Along with repairs, we offer appliance installation for Whirlpool and other brands.
